The Adobe Museum of Digital Media provides a venue to showcase groundbreaking digital work, and create conversation around the digital innovation of our time. The building was designed by Italian architect Filippo Innocente to exist only in the virtual space. The inaugural exhibition by Tony Oursler, entitled “Valley”, is the first in a series of works curated exclusively for the AMDM by Tom Eccles, Director of Curatorial Studies at Bard College. Upcoming exhibits include works by Japanese artist Mariko Mori, and a virtual seminar by RISD president Jon Maeda. The AMDM is not a one-time event, but an institution designed to grow over time and across platforms, taking cues from real-world museums.

The Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida and Hipstamatic have partnered to launch the Dali Museum GoodPak – a photographic ode to a pioneer of the Surrealist movement. Goodby Silverstein partnered with Hipstamatic to build an effect that creates strange surrealist overlays to photos taken through the app. The GoodPak is an upgrade to the existing Hipstamatic app, and comes with Salvador Lens and Film.

The GoodPak is meant to generate awareness of, and drive traffic to, the new building of The Dali Museum, which will open on January 11th, 2011. All proceeds from sales of the GoodPak will directly benefit the museum.

Additionally, the launch campaign features an online photo contest where the winner, as judged by John Waters, will be flown to the opening. Nine other finalists’ artwork will also be featured at the museum.

This initiative offers a highly experiential way by which to celebrate the museum (and passion for Dali’s work) – regardless of whether you can physically visit the museum or not. It also capitalizes on a highly popular mobile application, and a subject matter people are already passionate about – art and photography.
